My husband and I experienced The Apple Dumplin this evening for dinner and let me say it was fantastic. Actual home cooking and fantastic service. We ordered the chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes and they were amazing. If you go please order their rolls as a side and have some apple butter with them. Also, leave room for the apple dumpling with vanilla ice cream. You wont regret it! Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. Thank you Apple Dumplin!! We will definitely be back.

Down home country cooking, just like Grandma made. Breakfast until 11:00 am, then lunch until 4pm, or dinner βtil 8:00 pm. Your choice of two specials, changing daily, or fried chicken, or chicken fried steak. All with a generous size roll, real butter, and apple butter.

The chicken and noodles is really chicken and dumplings. Only the dumplings are smaller. I was asked if I wanted a roll and thinking that would be included, said yes. Apparently, they are an extra 1.50. Granted, theyβre huge, but very yeasty. I didnβt care for it. The biggest disappointment was the apple dumpling. Iβm used to a crispy flaky crust. Unfortunately, it was served sitting in a very watery cinnamon sauce, so the whole thing was soggy. The cinnamon flavor was overpowering. It might be a lot better without the sauce. You can get it with ice cream but I didnβt opt for that. The prices are high. The service was great. Very friendly people.

Slightly off the beaten path, this is and is A down home, family style place where everything is made with love and made to order. Portions are great for the price and my meal tasted a lot like my childhood. Fresh fried chicken (Midwest style), creamy mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and green beans that tasted like my grandmother's canned ones- a little bit of ham, some onions, and a ton of flavor. I wish I would have had the appetite for one of their desserts. And if I'm passing through again for breakfast, I suspect they have country favorites like biscuits and gravy. A couple of notes: There's not a lot of parking and it's not fast food. But if you're passing through Urbana and craving comfort food it's certainly worth the stop.

Wow.. what a homey little secret! Actually weβve heard about this place for a while; our grandmother said she loved coming here. We happened to be in the area today and remembered about it so we googled the info and saw they were open. So dang glad we did!! I got the homemade chicken & noodles and he got the ham beans and cornbread; seriously good and hit the spot! For dessert we shared the apple dumpling with ice cream. Apples arenβt my favorite but this was amazingly good, especially with the ice cream!! Our server, she was wonderful, can tell sheβs been there and knows all the regulars and we love that! Definitely will take time to make the trek back over (we live about an hour away!) thanks for a wonderful early dinner!
